Our Story

Roy and Dan Sandberg are brothers and serial entrepreneurs with an ongoing interest in robotics. Their last company, Giraff Technologies AB (sold 2017) produced and sold telepresence robots for remote caregiving all over the world.

Based on their experiences with Giraff, the Robotics Institute at CMU, lab automation, numerous consulting and even art projects, the brothers knew that traditional factory automation was too complex, too expensive, and too proprietary for most technology enthusiasts to meaningfully participate.

Finding a solution was no easy feat: it needed to be inexpensive, flexible, and easy to learn. They embarked on that long journey in the spirit of Thomas Edison's quote, "Genius is one percent inspiration, ninety-nine percent perspiration." In that entrepreneurial - and steam age - spirit, Ye Olde Robotics Company was born.
