Today's collaborative robots are expensive, closed source, and require onsite administration. YORC imagines a world where collaborative robots are inexpensive, open, and easy to customize from anywhere for any application.

An innovative actuator design combined with digital manufacturing and clever cloud software allow us to bypass the cobot manufacturing ecosystem and dramatically reduce costs. We do that while improving on modern cobot capabilities.

LABORATORY AUTOMATION

Our initial product will be a video-enabled dual-arm SCARA robot for microtiter plate movement in laboratory automation. More than just a high-precision, incredibly affordable open source plate handling arm, our solution targets remote operation, enabling revolutionary new workflows. This allows labs to save money in multiple ways:


1. Work can be remotely supervised and controlled thereby avoiding a night shift.
2. An automation engineer can remotely login, thereby avoiding airfare and delay.
3. A lab scientist can get the help of an automation engineer instantly.
4. An instrument manufacturer can deliver initial programming and training remotely.
